2015 and 2016 Kids Fishing Derby

ANNOUNCING 2016 KID’S FISHING DERBY DATES: SATURDAYS, JULY 9 AND AUGUST 6, 2016 WITH FISHING CLINICS JULY 2 AND JULY 30.

For more information, please call 735-0294/0281. Registration packets are available M-F at the DAWR office in Mangilao.

These derbies are open to children ages 7->12 years old on or before derby dates.

In addition to the fishing competition itself, the event includes a fishing clinic open to the public. The clinic provided an opportunity for parents and children to learn about and practice basic fishing skills including knot tying and casting. The purpose of the fishing derbies is to encourage fishing as a form of recreation, and to teach environmental and fishing conservation ethics.
